Bagdad Theatre (historic Hawthorne movie palace)

Opened in 1927 as a Spanish Colonial and Moorish–styled movie palace, the Bagdad Theatre remains a neighborhood landmark on SE Hawthorne Boulevard. McMenamins purchased and reopened the venue in 1996 and operates it as a cinema, live-music venue, and pub. The theater retains its historic auditorium, decorative plasterwork, and a marquee that anchors the commercial corridor.
