San Antonio Museum of Art (Lone Star Brewery building)

The San Antonio Museum of Art occupies the converted Lone Star Brewery complex, a late-19th-century industrial building on the Museum Reach of the River Walk. The museum adapted the brewery's large masonry and timber spaces for galleries when it opened on this site in the 1980s, preserving significant industrial architectural elements. The site's reuse links San Antonio's industrial heritage to its cultural institutions and accounts for one of the city's major examples of adaptive reuse of historic architecture.
