Old Chittenden County Courthouse

The Old Chittenden County Courthouse, located at 180 Church Street in Burlington, Vermont, was a notable example of Second Empire architecture, constructed in 1872. This historic building served as the county courthouse until it was tragically destroyed by fire in 1982. It was a key part of Burlington's civic center, alongside the City Hall and the Post Office. The courthouse was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, although it was removed from the register in 2016.
