The Driskill Hotel (Romanesque Revival, 1886)

The Driskill Hotel opened on December 20, 1886, after being commissioned by Col. Jesse Driskill as a luxury hotel for Texas cattlemen. The building is an example of Romanesque Revival commercial architecture in downtown Austin and has operated continuously as a hotel since its opening. Its prominent corner location faces the southern end of the Congress Avenue Historic District.
