Von Bock House

Located on Ülikooli Street in Tartu, Estonia, the Von Bock House is a historic building owned by Tartu University, notable for its striking mural of the university's main building. Commissioned after the Great Fire of 1775, it was designed by architect Johann Heinrich Bartholomäus Walther and completed by 1780. Originally built for Colonel Magnus Johann von Bock, the house has served various educational purposes since being acquired by the university in 1839. A significant renovation from 2006 to 2007 restored its facade and added a large mural based on a 1860 lithograph, showcasing the university's main building. The house remains a vibrant part of Tartu's cultural landscape, reflecting the city's rich academic heritage.
