Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (Isaiah Zagar mosaic environment)

Philadelphia's Magic Gardens is an immersive mosaic art environment created by artist Isaiah Zagar that covers half a block on South Street and includes indoor gallery space. The site is composed of intricate mosaics made from tiles, mirrors, bottles, and found objects; Zagar began installing mosaics in the neighborhood in the late 1960s and continued building the site over decades. The Magic Gardens opened as a nonprofit museum and public space in 2008 and is a major example of Philadelphia's folk and outsider art scene.
