Happy Land Social Club arson

On March 25, 1990, an arson fire at the Happy Land Social Club in the Bronx killed 87 people, making it one of New York City's deadliest mass-casualty fires. The blaze was set by the club's doorman after a personal dispute; the club's single narrow exit and locked doors contributed to the high death toll. The perpetrator was convicted of arson and murder.
