Triệu Tổ miếu

The Ancestral Temple of the Founder, or Triệu Tổ miếu, is a significant historical site in Huế, Vietnam, built to honor Duke Nguyễn Kim, the ancestor of the Nguyễn dynasty. Established around 1804, its design reflects Ming architecture with a rectangular layout symbolizing the character vương (王) and features three main doors facing south. Inside, visitors can find an altar with plaques dedicated to the founding ancestor and his lady, alongside a poetic inscription celebrating the legacy of Duke Nguyễn Kim. The temple suffered extensive damage during the 1968 Tet Offensive and remained abandoned until a controversial restoration in 2014, which aimed to revive its historical significance but faced criticism for its aesthetic choices.
