Munger Terrace

Munger Terrace is a historic rowhouse located in the Central Hillside neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota, designed by architects Oliver G. Traphagen and Francis W. Fitzpatrick and built between 1891 and 1892. Originally containing eight luxury townhomes, it showcases a unique blend of Châteauesque and Richardsonian Romanesque architectural styles and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The building features distinct residential units with modern amenities for its time, including central steam heat and electric lighting. Notably, it served as a home for the Benedictine Sisters, who established a school that eventually led to the founding of the College of St. Scholastica. Today, Munger Terrace remains a rental property, having undergone extensive rehabilitation in the late 1970s, and continues to be a significant architectural landmark in Duluth.
