Wisma Kastam

Wisma Kastam, originally the Malayan Railway Building, is a historic structure in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, designed by English architect Arthur Benison Hubback and completed in 1909. This Grade I heritage building, known for its Edwardian Baroque architecture, features a prominent 150-foot clock tower and was once a bustling train station, serving as a ticket office for ferry passengers to the mainland. Although it was referred to as a 'ghost station' due to its lack of direct railway connections, it has a rich history, including plans to transform it into a luxury hotel. After serving as the Royal Malaysian Customs and Excise Department's headquarters until 2022, it now stands as a significant landmark in the city, showcasing its architectural grandeur and historical importance.
