Pinebank Mansion

Pinebank Mansion, a Queen Anne style house built in 1868 by architect John Hubbard Sturgis, was located on a picturesque hill overlooking Jamaica Pond in Boston, Massachusetts. It was the only mansion preserved by Frederick Law Olmsted in his design for the Emerald Necklace park system. Originally a summer home for the Perkins family, it underwent several transformations and served various purposes, including as the first home of the Boston Children's Museum. Despite its historical significance and listing on the National Register of Historic Places, Pinebank was deemed unsalvageable and demolished in 2007. Today, a memorial marks its former location, featuring granite outlines of the mansion's perimeter and informational signs, inviting visitors to reflect on its rich history.
