Hobbs Building

The Hobbs Building, located at 2-4 North River Street in Aurora, Illinois, is a historic commercial structure built in 1895 by local businessman Albert Hobbs. Designed by architect James E. Minott in a Richardsonian Romanesque style with Queen Anne elements, the four-story building features a distinctive five-sided turret and multi-story bay windows. Originally housing Hobbs' furniture and undertaking businesses, the building has been vacant since 1990 but underwent a complete renovation in 2019 and welcomed its first residents in 2022. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
