Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph occupies a downtown San Jose site with a history of Catholic worship dating to the early 19th century; the present church building dates largely from the late 19th century. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose, which was established in 1981. The cathedral is a frequent focus of local historic preservation and civic ceremonies.
