Alte Kommandantur

The Alte Kommandantur, located on Unter den Linden boulevard in Berlin, is a historically significant building originally constructed in 1654 as the headquarters for the city's commandant. After suffering extensive damage during World War II and subsequent demolition, it was meticulously rebuilt between 2001 and 2003, drawing inspiration from historic photographs. The building now serves as the Berlin liaison office for the media conglomerate Bertelsmann. Notable figures such as the French writer Stendhal and German politician Otto Wels have worked here, making it a site of cultural and political importance in Berlin's rich history.
