Bergkvara, Växjö

Bergkvara is a historic manor house and castle ruin located by the scenic Bergkvarasjön lake in Växjö, Sweden. Known as one of the oldest mansions in the region, it was originally established in the 15th century by the Trolle family and transformed into a stone castle in the 1470s. The castle featured a unique defensive system with two moats, although it suffered significant damage during the Dacke War in 1542. Over the years, the castle fell into ruin, with a new main building completed in 1794. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this fascinating site, which offers a glimpse into Sweden's rich history and architectural heritage.
