Boston City Hall (Government Center)

Completed in 1968 and designed by Kallmann, McKinnell & Knowles, Boston City Hall is a widely cited example of Brutalist civic architecture with exposed concrete and modular massing. The building's exterior expresses interior functions through a stepped, cantilevered composition. It stands adjacent to City Hall Plaza, an open public square frequently used for rallies, concerts, and civic events.
