Martyn Brothers House

The Martyn Brothers House, also known as the Red Cottage, is a historic building in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, designed by architect Nikolai Sokolov in 1893. This two-storey red brick structure showcases a blend of Russian Gothic Revival and German architectural styles. Once the residence of British citizen Ivan Romanovich Martyn, it later served as the U.S. Consulate in the 1910s. After nationalization in the 1920s, it housed various institutions and communal apartments. In 2015, it reopened as the Sholokhov Centre, part of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, offering exhibition space and cultural programs, including lectures and creative events. The centre's inaugural exhibition featured Cossack artefacts from the Hermitage Museum.
