Burnett House (Darwin, Northern Territory)

Burnett House is a historic two-storey residence located in the Myilly Point Precinct of Darwin, Northern Territory, designed by architect Beni Burnett and built in 1938. It is notable for its unique 'K Type' design, which is tailored for tropical climates, featuring lightweight materials and innovative ventilation systems. The house survived the Bombing of Darwin during World War II, with visible bullet holes in its fence and remnants of a bomb found in its garden. Heritage-listed in 1994, Burnett House is managed by the National Trust of Australia (Northern Territory) and represents a significant piece of Darwin's architectural and historical landscape, making it an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers.
