Kate Morgan death at Hotel del Coronado

In late November 1892, Kate Morgan was found dead on the exterior steps of the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California from a gunshot wound. She had checked into the hotel under an alias and her death was officially ruled a suicide, though some historians and local writers have questioned that ruling and suggested possible homicide. The incident is one of the hotel’s best-known historical mysteries and is frequently cited in accounts of the hotel's reputed hauntings.
