Blue Mustang ('Mustang') at Denver International Airport

Mustang, commonly called the 'Blue Mustang' and created by sculptor Luis Jiménez, is a 32-foot-tall steel and fiberglass sculpture painted cobalt blue installed outside the Jeppesen Terminal at Denver International Airport. The sculpture has glowing red eyes and was installed as a permanent public artwork associated with the airport. During fabrication in 2006 a section of the sculpture fell on the artist, and he subsequently died from his injuries; this event is part of the work's documented history. The piece has been widely discussed in media coverage and public commentary about airport art.
