Amon Carter Museum (Philip Johnson building)

The original Amon Carter Museum building on Camp Bowie Boulevard was designed by architect Philip Johnson and opened in 1961. The limestone-clad modernist design houses a major collection of American art and was part of the early development of Fort Worth's Cultural District. The museum has since been expanded but the Johnson building remains a notable example of mid-20th-century museum architecture in the city.
