Galerías Pacífico

Galerías Pacífico is a historic shopping mall located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the bustling intersection of Florida Street and Córdoba Avenue. Originally designed in 1889 by architects Emilio Agrelo and Roland Le Vacher, the Beaux Arts building was initially home to the Argentine Bon Marché, inspired by Paris's Le Bon Marché. Over the years, it has housed significant cultural institutions, including the first location of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. The building's name evolved to Edificio Pacífico after the British-owned Buenos Aires and Pacific railway company acquired part of it in 1908. Notably, in 1987, a film crew discovered an abandoned torture center in the basement, revealing a dark chapter from Argentina's Dirty War. Today, Galerías Pacífico is not only a shopping destination but also a site of historical significance, attracting both tourists and researchers.
