Charles City College Hall

Charles City College Hall, also known as Old Main, is a historic building on the Morningside College campus in Sioux City, Iowa. Established in 1889 to foster educational and cultural growth, it was completed in 1890 as the college's first structure, showcasing Richardsonian Romanesque architecture with a quartzite exterior. Originally part of the University of the Northwest, it was taken over by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1894 and became Morningside College. The building served as a music conservatory, enhancing the local cultural scene, but suffered a fire in 1914, leading to significant renovations. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in educational history and architecture.
