Goddess of Liberty atop the Texas State Capitol dome

The Texas State Capitol dome is crowned by the statue known as the Goddess of Liberty, a prominent sculptural feature visible from Congress Avenue and surrounding downtown areas. The statue has stood atop the capitol dome since the building’s late-19th-century completion and is one of the building’s most recognizable exterior elements. The capitol and its grounds are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remain the seat of Texas state government.
