Prehistoric sites at McKinney Falls State Park

McKinney Falls State Park contains documented archaeological deposits including lithic scatters, burned-rock middens, and other artifacts indicating recurring human use from the Archaic period into historic times. Archaeological surveys within the park have identified multiple prehistoric campsite locations on the Onion Creek terraces and in nearby limestone shelter areas. The park's cultural resources are recorded and protected by Texas Parks & Wildlife and have been the subject of professional archaeological studies.
