Hosanna Meeting House

The Hosanna Meeting House, also known as the Hosanna A.U.M.P. Church, is a historic African American church located near Oxford, Pennsylvania, on the campus of Lincoln University. Established in 1843 and completed by 1845, it served as a station on the Underground Railroad and a vital worship site for the free Black community of Hinsonville. The church features a simple red brick architecture with a wraparound porch and a crawlspace that once hid fugitive slaves. Adjacent to the church is a historic cemetery, one of the first marked grave sites for Black individuals in Chester County, housing notable figures including African American veterans of the Civil War. Recognized for its historical significance, the church received a Pennsylvania state historical marker in 1992 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 2024. Today, it continues to serve as a place of worship for Lincoln University's community.
