Mission San José archaeological record

National Park Service archaeological investigations at Mission San José have documented the mission's 18th-century acequia (irrigation) system, buried building foundations, and features linked to indigenous and mission-era domestic life. Excavations and survey work recovered ceramics, faunal remains, and structural evidence that clarify patterns of residence, agriculture, and craft production at the mission. Archaeological study at the mission has been integral to preservation and interpretation efforts within San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
