Davy Tower

Davy Tower is a historic stone structure located within the York city walls in England, built around 1250. Originally part of the defenses leading to Castlegate, it has a rich history, including its use for a chain across the River Ouse until 1553. The tower features medieval architecture, with a height of about 10 feet and original windows, including an arrowslit and a musket loop. Over the centuries, it has undergone various alterations, including the addition of a summerhouse and extensions in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1954, it was designated as a Grade II* listed building, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in medieval history and architecture.
