Taylor Carpet Company Building

The Taylor Carpet Company Building, a historic commercial structure in Indianapolis, Indiana, was constructed in 1897 and showcases a striking Beaux-Arts architectural style. This seven-story building, which features a distinctive buff terra cotta facade and large Chicago-style windows, underwent an expansion in 1906 with the addition of three upper stories. The first two floors exhibit an Art Moderne stone veneer, enhancing its historical charm. Once home to the Taylor Carpet Company until 1936, the building is situated adjacent to the Indianapolis News Building and is part of the Washington Street-Monument Circle Historic District. It was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers alike.
