State House, Mauritius

The State House, also known as Le Château de Réduit, is the official residence of the President of Mauritius, located in Réduit, Moka. Originally built as a fortress in 1749 by Governor Pierre Félix Barthelemy David, it has a rich history that includes serving as the residence for both French and British governors. The estate spans 97 hectares and features beautiful gardens with a variety of flowers and trees. Although it has faced destruction from cyclones and undergone renovations, the Château remains a significant historical site. It is open to the public for two days each year, allowing visitors to explore its stunning architecture and gardens.
