Pioneer Courthouse Square ('Portland's living room')

Pioneer Courthouse Square opened in 1984 as a 40,000-square-foot central public plaza in downtown Portland and is commonly nicknamed 'Portland's living room.' The square hosts hundreds of events annually including concerts, protests, and festivals and contains public art such as the bronze 'Allow Me' (Umbrella Man) statue. It was developed on a site long associated with Portland civic life adjacent to the Pioneer Courthouse.
