Darth Vader grotesque on Washington National Cathedral

A carved grotesque resembling the Star Wars character Darth Vader was added to the northwest tower of Washington National Cathedral during late-20th-century stone restoration work. The figure is one of several modern grotesques incorporated into the cathedral's Gothic-style ornamentation and is a documented example of contemporary imagery placed on the building. It is visible from exterior vantage points on the cathedral towers but is easily missed without looking for it.
