Lincoln Memorial statue (Daniel Chester French)

The Lincoln Memorial contains a 19-foot-tall seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln carved by Daniel Chester French and dedicated in 1922. The memorial building was designed by architect Henry Bacon and the interior walls bear inscriptions of the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address. The statue is made of marble and occupies the west end of the National Mall.
