Rokeby (Leesburg, Virginia)

Rokeby is a historic Georgian house located near Leesburg, Virginia, built in the mid-18th century and recognized as the finest example of Georgian architecture in Loudoun County. Notably, during the War of 1812, it served as a storage site for U.S. government documents, including the Declaration of Independence, during the British occupation. The house features a two-story brick structure with a distinctive basement that includes a large kitchen and a brick barrel vault. Over the years, it has undergone various renovations, including a significant restoration in 1958. Today, Rokeby stands as a testament to American history and architecture, having been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976.
