Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square

The Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square was built with Andrew Carnegie funds and completed in 1903 to serve as Washington, D.C.'s central public library. The Beaux-Arts building later housed the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. and was adaptively reused in the 21st century for cultural and commercial purposes, including a public-facing retail and community space. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
