R. C. Williams Warehouse

The R.C. Williams Warehouse is a historic 10-story building located in Chelsea, Manhattan, designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert. Constructed between 1927 and 1928 for the R.C. Williams Company, this Modern Movement style warehouse features a distinctive concrete façade and was originally equipped with access to the High Line railway for freight operations. Spanning 215,000 square feet, it is a smaller counterpart to Gilbert's Brooklyn Army Terminal. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005 and now houses Avenues: The World School, a private educational institution that opened in 2012, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring New York's architectural history.
