Petersen House (House Where Lincoln Died)

The Petersen House at 516 10th Street NW is the boarding house where President Abraham Lincoln was taken after he was shot at Ford's Theatre and where he died on the morning of April 15, 1865. The house is preserved as a historic site and museum interpreted by the National Park Service, with period rooms and exhibits about Lincoln's final night and the aftermath of the assassination. It is located directly across from Ford's Theatre and is open to public visitation as part of the Ford's Theatre National Historic Site.
