Hotel De Anza - Named for Juan Bautista de Anza

The Hotel De Anza is a historic Art Deco hotel in downtown San Jose built in 1931 and named for Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza. Juan Bautista de Anza led the 1775–1776 expedition that established the civilian settlement El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe, the origin of modern San Jose. The hotel commemorates that historical connection through its name and presence in the city's downtown.
