George Washington Carver High School / Carver Museum

George Washington Carver High School served Phoenix's African American students during the era of legally enforced school segregation. The high school program closed in the mid-1950s as Phoenix schools integrated, and the building was later repurposed for community uses. The former school building now houses the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, which preserves and presents African American history and culture in Phoenix.
