Camp Yeomalt

Camp Yeomalt is a historic lodge located on Bainbridge Island, Washington, originally established as a Boy Scout camp in 1935. Built by local residents through the Works Progress Administration, the lodge features distinctive 'camp style' architecture using Douglas-fir logs and includes a stone chimney with fire boxes. The camp spans 3 acres and includes a bathhouse constructed in 1942, which served as the headquarters for the US Army's 202nd Coast Artillery during World War II. Renamed in 2000, Camp Yeomalt was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, and its name reflects a Lushootseed word meaning 'fight,' making it a unique destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
