Intel Shell

The Intel Shell was an unfinished building in Austin, Texas, intended to be a ten-story chip-design center, which was abandoned during the early 2000s recession. After years of halted construction, it was imploded on February 25, 2007, with hundreds of spectators in attendance. The site is now home to the Austin United States Courthouse, completed in 2012. The Intel Shell serves as a reminder of the city's economic fluctuations and the ambitious tech projects of its past.
