Travelers Rest (Burlington, West Virginia)

Travelers Rest, also known as Old Stone House, is a historic home near Burlington, West Virginia, originally built as a stagecoach stop along the Northwestern Turnpike. Constructed in two phases between 1810 and 1827, this Ell-shaped stone building showcases a vernacular adaptation of Greek Revival architecture. Currently owned by The Mineral County Historical Foundation, it is undergoing restoration to become a hub for artisans and shops, catering to modern travelers on U.S. Route 50. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006, making it a noteworthy destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
