John T. Alsop Jr. Bridge (Main Street Bridge)

The John T. Alsop Jr. Bridge, commonly called the Main Street Bridge, is a blue-painted vertical lift bridge that carries Main Street across the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville. It opened in 1941 and has been an iconic part of the city's riverfront skyline since then. The bridge is named for long-serving Jacksonville mayor John T. Alsop Jr.
