Los Angeles County Hall of Records

The Los Angeles County Hall of Records, designed by Richard Neutra and Robert Alexander, is a striking example of international style architecture located in Downtown Los Angeles. This T-shaped high-rise features unique louvers and ornamental screens by sculptor Malcolm Leland. Originally intended as two separate buildings, it now houses various county offices, including the Alternative Public Defender and the Sheriff's Department. The building is notable for its energy-efficient design and includes terraces with panoramic views of the city. A mosaic mural by Joseph Young enhances its exterior, and the nearby Civic Center subway station provides easy access for visitors. Although the building has faced mixed reviews over the years, it remains an important architectural landmark in the Civic Center area.
