Rothko Chapel

The Rothko Chapel is a non-denominational chapel and art installation in Houston that opened in 1971 and houses fourteen large paintings by Mark Rothko. Designed as a site-specific contemplative space, it serves as both an exhibition of modern art and a venue for interfaith services, concerts, and public programs. The chapel is an independent nonprofit institution closely associated with the Menil Collection campus nearby.
