Kingsley Plantation live oaks

Kingsley Plantation on Fort George Island features large live oak trees that form a mature canopy around the plantation house and outbuildings. The site is part of the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve and is managed by the National Park Service. The live oaks are historically associated with the plantation landscape and the interpretation of 18th- and 19th-century occupation of the site. Visitors commonly note the trees' broad, buttressed trunks and extensive limb systems characteristic of coastal northeastern Florida live oaks.
