Spero Building

The Spero Building, located at 19-27 West 21st Street in Manhattan's Flatiron District, is a historic twelve-story structure built between 1907 and 1908. Designed by Robert D. Kohn in the Art Nouveau style, this store-and-loft edifice features a striking facade of limestone and buff-colored brick. Originally constructed for millinery goods wholesaler David Spero, the building housed various tenants including embroiderers and shirtwaist merchants, reflecting the vibrant commercial character of the Ladies' Mile Historic District. With a frontage of 104.6 feet and a construction cost of approximately $350,000, the Spero Building stands as a notable example of early 20th-century architecture in New York City.
