Guilford School Building

The Guilford School is a historic former schoolhouse located at 421 E 4th Street in Downtown Cincinnati, now serving as commercial offices. Dedicated on May 16, 1914, it honors Nathan Guilford, an early advocate for education in Ohio. The building is situated near Lytle Park and is part of the Lytle Park Historic District. Notably, it stands on the site of Fort Washington and the boardinghouse where composer Stephen Foster resided from 1846 to 1850. Designed by architect Frederick W. Garber, the building is currently owned by Western & Southern Life Insurance.
