Survivor Tree (American elm) at the Oklahoma City National Memorial

An American elm (Ulmus americana) located on the grounds of the Oklahoma City National Memorial survived the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The tree was severely damaged by the blast and later rehabilitated by memorial staff and volunteers. It has become an official symbol of resilience for the memorial, and seedlings from the Survivor Tree have been propagated and distributed by the memorial as part of outreach and remembrance programs.
