Herndon Hall

Herndon Hall, also known as the Bergmann Mansion, is a historic residence in Des Moines, Iowa, built in 1881 in the Queen Anne style. Designed by the architectural firm Foster & Liebbe for attorney Jefferson Polk, the mansion is named after his wife, Julia Herndon. It has a rich history, having served as the home for three bishops of the Diocese of Des Moines, a clothing store, and the National Headquarters for Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Service. Currently, it operates as a cosmetic and reconstructive surgery practice and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in Iowa's architectural heritage.
